Somewhere around the third week of August, the Village stops pretending it belongs to the visitors. The last Wednesday concert wraps. The parking rhythm changes. August 19 Is The Hinge
The Capitola Twilight Concerts run Wednesdays 6 to 8 p.m. from June through August at the Esplanade Park Bandstand at 120 Montgomery Ave., and the 2026 season closes on August 19 with The DigBeats playing oldies, dance, and rock. That date matters less as a farewell than as a pivot. The bandstand hosts one of the largest dance floors on the coast, and once the Wednesday routine ends, the seawall, benches, and lawn revert to a more casual weeknight use. Locals bring dinner from the Village and sit without competing for space.
The other summer staple, Food Truck Fridays, also winds down at the end of August. That leaves a stretch of open evenings that the city has been quietly filling with smaller programming.
What Fills The Gap
Two events sit in the space where the Wednesday concert used to be. The Dog-Pool Weekend
The Parks & Rex Dog Pool Party Fundraiser lands on Saturday, August 15 this year, per the Capitola-Soquel Chamber calendar. - Tacos Moreno is outdoor, cash only, and best in the shoulder weeks when the picnic tables are not five deep.

One Change Worth Knowing About
The Makers Market has been retired for 2026. Per the city's events page, the program is not returning this year and Capitola Recreation has said to watch for updates in 2027. New Music Sundays, showcasing student and emerging musicians at the Esplanade Bandstand, continues to fill in some of those dates.
